The invention relates to a method for conveying a multi-layer flow of rod-shaped articles in the tobacco processing industry to a set of points (WA, WZ) from which or to which a second flow of articles (AS 2.1, AS 2.2) can be conveyed. From this set of points (WA, WZ), finally, a third stream of articles (AS 3.1, AS 3.2) can also be conveyed. In order to avoid damage as a consequence of relative movements between moved and stationary articles it is ensured, in the case of the second flow of articles leading away from the set of points, that in all operating states the first flow of articles (AS 1.1) conveyed to the set of points (WA) is greater than the third flow of articles (AS 3.1) conveyed away, so that a second flow of articles (AS 2.1) always flows away from the set of points (WA) and can be very small; if the first flow of articles (AS 1.2) conveyed to the set of points (WZ) is smaller than the third flow of articles (AS 3.2) conveyed away, it is ensured that a second flow of articles (AS 2.2) always flows towards the set of points (WZ) and can likewise be small. <IMAGE>
