摘要 PURPOSE:To attain ignition performance stable in the heavy-load operation of an engine, by controlling the direction of fuel injection depending on the speed of intake flow. CONSTITUTION:A guide passage 14, which is opened toward a spark plug 10, is defined at the tip of a fuel injection valve 9 and provided with a communication hole 13, which functions to conduct negative pressure caused depending on the velocity of flow through an intake port 7, to control the direction of fuel injection depending on the intake flow velocity. In the heavy-load operation of the engine in which the intake quantity is large and the air flow velocity at the intake port 7 is high, intense negative pressure is caused in the communication hole 13 to attract the injected fuel flow in the passage 14, toward the communication hole, so that the streamline of the injected fuel is curved downwards, its main stream goes away from the opening 6A of an auxiliary chamber 6 and most of the fuel is directly injected into a combustion chamber 5. Therefore, even in the heavy-load operation in which the quantity of the injected fuel is large, the fuel flowing into the auxiliary chamber 6 does not become excess, so that stable ignition is maintained.
