PURPOSE:To absorb expansion of a plate to improve performance by positioning on the same plane the lower ends of a cathode plate and an anode plate and placing on a rib of a container only the lower end of the anode plate. CONSTITUTION:A cathode plate 1 having foot parts 2,3, and an anode plate 5 having foot parts 6,7, and a separator 9 interposed in between are stacked to constitute an electrode group. This electrode group is inserted into a container 10 and a gelled electrolyte is poured in it to form a lead-acid battery. In the lower end of the electrode group, only the foot parts 6,7 of the anode plate are placed on ribs 11,12 installed on the bottom of the container, and the foot parts 2,3 of the cathode plate 1 are placed apart from the ribs, but both lower ends of the cathode plate and the anode plate are positioned on the same plane. |
