In a proposed ultrasonic device for sector scanning, the ultrasonic head can be swivelled within a predeterminable angular range by a motor drive, the motor drive comprising the actual motor drive with transmission and an angle sensor. According to the main patent application P 2941876.6, the angle sensor is connected as an actual-value sensor together with a setpoint generator in a control circuit for the drive motor to achieve an angular movement of the ultrasonic head in the required manner. The actual-value function and the set point function are matched to one another so as to produce a shape equality of the two output functions over fairly large signal ranges within the desired swivelling angle range at the control input itself. According to the additional application, the device specified in the main patent application is modified so that, instead of the ultrasonic head (1), a mirror (101) for reflecting the ultrasonic waves emitted by the ultrasonic head (1) can be swivelled within a predetermined angular range by the drive motor (6).
