PURPOSE:To enable clear printing even on a paper having a rough surface without requiring any modification of a thermal transfer printer, by adding a substance having a high coefficient of thermal expansion to an ink for an ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:When heat is generated by heat generating elements 4 of a head, the heat is transmitted through a base 10a to melt ink 10b, and causes a substance having a high coefficient of thermal expansion contained in the ink 10b to expand or explode, whereby the ink 10b is adhered to paper 5 in the state of being forced into recessed parts 5a of a rugged surface of the paper 5. The substance having the high coefficient of thermal expansion is mixed in the ink 10b in a particulate form or in a liquid state. The substance may be potassium, a gel of polyacrylamide showing the phenomenon called phase transition of gel, a sublimable ink, a tiny amount of an explosive powder or the like. |
