A method for applying a plurality of sheetlike or weblike bodies, especially wallpaper, one above the other to a holding body, especially the wall part of a building, has the object of, from the start, fastening at least two sheetlike or weblike bodies to the holding body and of making it possible to remove the external sheetlike or weblike body to expose the concealed weblike or sheetlike body in a simple fashion and as required. For application of the sheetlike or weblike body to the wall part, there is provided an edge strip which has a coverable adhesive layer, may be part of the body or of an adhesive strip and can be easily separated from the said body or adhesive strip. This edge strip can be used to apply bodies which are arranged in a congruent manner, or bodies in a congruent manner, to a wall part in such a way that the topmost sheetlike or weblike body can always be removed to expose the sheetlike or weblike body beneath it by separation of the edge strips, which are used to fasten it to the wall part, from the web of wallpaper beneath it, without damaging the latter. <IMAGE>
