The invention relates to improving a light source for a measuring device (50) for the purpose of optoelectrical analysis of haemolysed blood, it being the case that a microincandescent lamp has previously been used as light source to generate a light beam (L). However, depending on the service life, the known microincandescent lamps have a relatively unstable luminosity. An optimum luminosity and luminous stability can be achieved by the use of a plurality of LED elements (20a to 20f) known per se, which can be integrated to form a light source structural unit (25). A multiplication of the luminosity is achieved in a very restricted space by means of arranging the LED elements in, for example, hexagonal patterns with respect to one another, the required luminous stability being ensured by the known optimum long-term behaviour of the LED elements. <IMAGE>
