Yielding subsoils are covered with the ground plate which consists of concrete. Surfaces which can be driven on are thus obtained. The square ground plate is divided into a base plate (12) and, situated below this, a subplate (14). The subplate (14) has, in relation to the outline of the base plate (12), projecting teeth (16) and recessed tooth spaces (18). When ground plates are laid against one another, the teeth and tooth spaces engage in one another. A rigid interlocking is thus created. The great forces arising under the wheels of a motor vehicle when these ground plates are driven on are thus distributed over a large area on the subsoil. The latter thus yields no more and the desired firm surface which can be driven on is produced. <IMAGE>
