PURPOSE:To retrieve a picture quickly, by designating a precision of display data to a display device and changing the precision of picture information stored in a file device to transmit this information in case that many picture information stored in the file device are retrieved. CONSTITUTION:A display device 11 and a display controller 10 which designates a precision of display data are connected to a file device 6 through communication controllers 7 and 9 and a transmission line 8. Prescribed picture elements or scanning lines in data which is stored in the file device 6 and constitutes each picture are erased to change the precision of display data. In respcet to picture information having tone wedges in data which is stored in the file device 6 and constitutes each picture, the lowest-level (LSB) bit of each picture element is erased, and thus, the precision of display data is changed. |
