PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of an apparatus and to make the apparatus compact and light in weight by a method wherein a differential mechanism is employed for switching printing types in the printer in which printing members moves in the direction of row for printing purposes. CONSTITUTION:A driving gear 7 turns in the direction of arrow J as a motor 6 turns, causing a reduction gear 8 and a planet gear 10 to turn in the directions of arrows K, L, respectively. At this time, because a cam 11 for switching printing types is engaged by means of a claw 12a, the planet gear 10, while it is rotating and revolving above a solar gear 8c, causes a selective driving gear 9 to turn in the direction of arrow K via a planet shaft 9a and further a selective gear 21, a printing shaft 22 and the like to turn. A type location signal is used to stop the rotation of a control disc 27. The planet gear 24 makes a selective claw 12c engage with a selective ratchet 21a via a trigger lever 23 in order to keep itself rotating. Thus the selection of a character is made realizable. |
