A packet switching system comprises a plurality of nodes each with a number of modules. Each of these modules includes a processor and a memory for storing data about virtual calls in which this module is involved. For each virtual call path established between two end nodes recovery data is stored in the memories of two modules of each end node, these recovery data being transmitted by messages normally used to establish the virtual call path. If one of the modules storing the recovery data fails, means are provided for using the recovery data of the other module. |
