PURPOSE:To obtain a small sized, lightweight and highly sensitive temp. detector by disposing LiTaO3 as a double refractive crystal and a quartz plate or a mica plate as an optical bias plate serially in an optical path. CONSTITUTION:A temp. detector is constituted by forming a calcite plate 11 of 1mm. thickness of which the optical axis enters the end faces of optical fibers 8, 9 for inputting and outputting at 45 deg., a rod lens 2, a crystal Y plate (or mica plate or the like) 16 of 45mum thickness, an LiTaO3 single crystal Y plate of 60mum thickness and a dielectric mirror 14 to one body by means of optical adhesive agents, and is used by sealing the detector in a glass tube for protection. The LiTaO3 has a large temp. change rate B of refractive indices and a small difference in double refractive indices. The quartz is as small as (about 2%) in B, and permits bringing of a reference point (20 deg.C) to the linear part of a sinusoidal curve. When a light emitting diode (lambda=0.82mum) is used for the light source, <=0.1 deg.C accuracy is obtained. The device is small in size, is light in weight and high in sensitivity. |
