<p>PURPOSE:To select optimum cutting lengths by determining the moving distance of the trailing end calculated from the number of pulses of a standard stand out of rolling installations consisting of plural stands and further determining the remaining lengths of materials. CONSTITUTION:A stand 3n wherein the remaining length of the material of a rolling material 1 traveling in an arrow 2 direction is a certain length and the trailing end of the material 1 is not yet passed therethrough is defined as a reference stand. The distance Ln where the trailing end moves from the point of time when the trailing end passes through a material passage detector 11 on the upper stream of the stand 3n until the material is cut next by a cutter 10 is determined fromthe number of pulses of a pulse oscillator 5n, and further L'= LnXSn+1/S0 is determined. Here, S0, Sn+1 denote the sectional areas of the materials 1 respectively. This gives the forecast value of the remaining length of the material lx=l0+-+ln-1+Sn-1/S0+lnXSn/ S0+L1XSn+1/S0-L'. Here, l0-ln-1, S0-Sn denote the distances and sectional areas between the stands 31-3n and Sn+1 denotes the sectional area before the stand 3n.</p> |
