摘要 PURPOSE:To detect the anode effect and inter-electrode short circuiting of an Al electrolytic cell quickly in the stage of refining Al with said cell by measuring many voltages and currents of the electrolytic cell at short time intervals, and utilizing the measured values thereof in calculating counter electromotive force by statistical techniques. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of electrolyzing molten salt of Al2O3 and producing Al by reduction, first the cell voltage V and cell current I under refining with an electrolytic cell are measured reiteratively many times. From the measured data, the average values and variance values of V and I are calculated and a constant (e) and its variance value Ve are calculated by linear regression V= rI+e. Next, from the counter electromotive force determined from the data of (e) and Ve, V, I and their variance values, the counter electromotive force at that point of time is calculated. According to the calculated value of the counter electromotive force, whether the Al electrolytic cell causes an anode effect or the anode and the Al bath as the cathode are short-circuited is decided quickly, and the electrolytic cell is returned to the stable normal operation.
