PURPOSE:To prevent any accidental mis-discharge, which might be caused by the maldistribution of abnormal electric charges, by coating electrodes provided on an insulating base plate with a dielectric layer, and forming temporarily an electrode-oxidation preventing film over the electrode exposed part of the dielectric layer before a sealing member is fixed over the sealing area of the insulating base plate by sintering. CONSTITUTION:When a dielectric layer 7 made of A12O3 is fixed by a thermal method, over the surface of a glass base plate 3 on which a write electrode 6 and shift electrodes X11-X1n are provided, an electrode exposed part 9 consisting of a crack is formed in a part of the layer 7 corresponding to the write electrode 6, and no cracks develop in the layer 7 formed over the shift electrodes X11-X1n. Next, a sealing member 4a' made of a low-melting-point glass paste is printed on the sealing area of the glass base plate 3. After that, an electrode-oxidation preventing film 11 is formed over the electrode exposed part 9 of the layer 7. Owing to the above constitution, any electrode oxidation, which might develop through the electrode exposed part 9 during the sintering process, can be prevented. Consequently, the disorder caused by the electrode oxidation can be removed, and a self-shift-type gas electric-discharge panel with a stable characteristic is obtained. |
