摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To achive an endless tape driving device which can keep stable tape running without slip for a long time, by forming a metallic thin film with higher hardness than a metal base on the surface of the base metal having a surface coarseness within a specific range for a capstan of a driving device. CONSTITUTION:In a device where an endless tape 1 passes through a slit 3 of a fixed reel 2, is in contact with a magnetic head 4 and passes between a cap- stan 5 and a pinch roller 6 and is wound on a winding section 1' of the reel 2 with a guide 7, the capstan 5 is formed to the surface coarseness of 0.4S-2.0S for the surface of a base metal 21 such as SUS303 and a thin film 22 <=1mu thick such as Ti higher hardness than the base metal 21 is formed on the surface with the vacuum deposition. Thus, the wear of the capstan 5 through the friction with a magnetic surface of the tape 1 which is a cause to tape slip can be avoided, and the tape can stably be driven for a long time without uneven tape speed.</p>
