PURPOSE:To improve a low temperature area of the inside of an ingot, to shorten a heating time, and to remarkably reduce a consumption of the quantity of heat, by mainly heating a burner directed to a space of multistage piled ingots, except a main burner, in the latter half period of heating. CONSTITUTION:A gas burner 12 which has pierced through a shell 11 of a lower exhaust gas flue 8 of a side wall 10 of the burner side in a holding furnace 1, and extends in the longitudinal direction of the furnace is angled inward so as to stand face to face with the space between multisage piled ingots 6 and the horizontal ingots 6. When heating the ingots 6, it is mainly heated by a main burner 2 from the initial period of heating to the intermediate period, and at the time from th intermediate period of heating in which the quantity of feeding fuel to the burner 2 decreases to its end period, the quantity of feeding fuel to the burner 12 is increased to more than that of the burner 2, and heating is performed. As a result, burnt exhaust gas 13 from the burner 12 reaches the inside of the ingots 6, and it is prevented that rise of a temperature of the multistage piled ingots pieces 6 is delayed. |
