PURPOSE:To control operations of a blast furnace effectively by determining the luminance fluctuations in the raceway near the tuyeres of the blast furnace as continuous waveforms and knowing the behavior of charging materials from the change in the patterns of said waveforms. CONSTITUTION:The intensity of radiation energy in the visual field of a raceway 7 toward the blast direction of a tuyere, that is, luminance, is measured continuously at least at one charging interval into a blast furnace. Further, the values of the luminances are made into continuous waveforms as changes with time, and from the waveforms thereof, the behavior of the charging materials above the raceway 7 is judged. In this way, the shapes and descending states of the ore layer 10 and coke layer 11 located above the raceway 7 are discriminated and abnormal states are detected from the disturbance in the waveforms. |
