MANUFACTURE OF REFLECTION PREVENTIVE FILM FOR PHOTO- CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To form a reflection preventive film on the end face of a fiber connector by utilizing photopolymerization of reaction gases by gaseous phase reaction. CONSTITUTION:The surface plate 1 of a reactor provided with a monomer gas supply passage 3 and a hole 2 for inserting a connector is covered with a ball jar 4 having an exhaust port 6. Openings of a mask plate 5 corresponding to the fiber connector insertion holes are provided in the bell jar. Connector cores in which photofibers are inserted and fixed are inserted into the connector insertion holes 2 and end faces of the fiber are exposed in the ball jar. After exhausting, monomer gas is introduced into the reactor and kept at pressure of 0.1- 10 torr. When ultraviolet rays 7 are irradiated from a mercury-arc lamp or a xenon lamp etc., the end faces of the connectors receive rays and a polymer is formed from the monomer gas.
