PURPOSE:To mitigate the increase of the internal resistance and deterioration of the heavy load characteristics of a battery during storage by adding Karl Fischer's reagent in electrolyte of the battery. CONSTITUTION:Positive active material, conductive agent, and binder such as MnO2, graphite, and teflon are mixed, and the mixture is molded to form a positive electrode 1. Negative active material of alkalimetal is pressed on an expanded metal of a metal such as nickel to form a negative electrode 2. An adequate amount of perchlorate of alkalimetal is dissolved in organic solvent, and the solvent is dehydrated with molecular sieve, Karl Fischer's reagent is dissolved in an amount which exceeds an equivalent amount of residual moisture, and it is used as the electrolyte. Battery generating elements are contained in a positive container 4 spaced with a separator 3 comprising nonwoven fabric which is impregnated with the electrolyte, and sealed with a negative electrode cap 6 through an insulating packing 5 to form an organic solvent battery. |
