The column of a conventional electronic dilatometer is surrounded by a platinum winding. The winding surrounds a sample being studied and forms part of a tuned oscillatory circuit which records variations of the magnetic properties of the sample as the measurements are made on the dilatometer. This allows the Curie point to be determined by agreement between the development of the magnetic parameters and the dilatometer curve. Low amplitude phenomena are recorded using this method.
