<p>N-(2-amino-3-alkoxy or phenoxy-propyl urea and thiourea derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1-NH-CX-NR2-CH2-CHA-CH2-O-R3 (I) (R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heteroaryl; X is O or S; R2 is H or opt. substd. phenyl; A is a tertiary amino radical, such as dialkylamino, cyclic or heterocyclic and R3 is lower alkyl or phenyl). (I) are used in cardiovascular therapy where they have anti-dysrhymic activity. Tests show (I) improve cardiac arrhythmia and have low toxicity (oral LD50 in mice is 250-1000 mg/kg.). They are used to treat ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmia by administration of 100-800 mg. per day.</p> |
