PURPOSE:To approximately make uniform the sharpness of an image in both directions by employing secondary differentiated operator in which a profile emphasized components are different in accordance with the scanning direction with respect to the density level obtained by quantizing the density values of the respective picture elements. CONSTITUTION:Value f(i, j) can be represented by the formula as listed, where the position of picture element of 3X3 is, for example, represented by (i, j) and f(i, j) represents the density value of a spacial filter, which is called a secondary differentiated operator. When a profile intensifying process is performed with the filter, the profile can be intensified as designated by b for the density value a of main scanning direction in an image 1 having different sharpness, for example, in main and sub scanning directions, thereby obtaining density value (c) in the main scanning direction and density value (f) in the sub scanning direction. |
