In the device, the absorption is determined from the transmission loss on passing radiation through the sample cuvettes, a test sample and a reference sample being provided for the purpose of error correction. It is proposed to construct the cuvettes so that the optical parameters are stable. The cuvettes comprise windows with inlaid wires for forming channels, the thickness of the wires determining the window spacing.
