A flat silo for the ensilage of fodder comprises at least two walls, located opposite one another and laterally limiting a silage space, and a covering foil, by means of which the silage space can be covered on top. For an air-tight closure of the silage space, the two side walls are each provided in their top side with a liquid-sealing gutter, in which the covering foil can be fixed at the edge. On the end face, the silage space is limited by two end walls which are located opposite one another and which are likewise each assigned a liquid-sealing gutter for fixing the covering foil on the end face in an air-tight manner. In this way, an ensilage of fodder, especially wet grain silage, can be carried out by very simple means, with air being shut off completely from the silage space, whilst at the same time the adverse effects of odours on the environment during the fermentation process are avoided by means of the sealing gutters filled with liquid.
