1. A method of producing composite materials from aligned reinforcement fibres embedded in a thermoplastic matric, in which a lay-up of the aligned reinforcement fibres and thermoplastic material is produced and the thermoplastic material is heated to a temperature above its melting point, characterised in that a) the thermoplastic material is used in the form of short out fibres, b) the short cut thermoplastic fibres are mixed with short cut reinforcement fibres, and then c) from the mixture a lay-up made of aligned short cut thermoplastic fibres and aligned short cut reinforcement fibres is formed.
