The invention relates to a percussion instrument, e.g. for the percussion of teeth, for objective determination of the degree of loosening of the teeth. The influence of gravity on the speed of the plunger in the free fall phase is a function of the deviation from the horizontal position. This merely requires an inclination-dependent adjustment for the plunger acceleration. The acceleration of the plunger takes place, according to the invention, electromagnetically by means of an acceleration coil.
