PURPOSE:To prevent a jamming at feeding sheet in a heat transfer type printer and to maintain the surface of a solid ink holder smooth by providing a separator at the position isolated at the prescribed distance from a thermal head of the holder faced in contact with the head via a recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:A separator 17 is rigidly engaged at its lower end with a wire 11 between a pulley 13 and a drum 14, and is intimately contacted under the prescribed contacting pressure with the front surface of a solid ink holder 7. Further, this separator 17 is disposed at the prescribed distance leftwardly with respect to a head 6. When a thermal head 16 is now contacted with the holder 7 preheated by a preheater 9 to thereby transfer ink in dotted state onto the surface 10a to be printed of a recording sheet 10, the separator 17 is then inserted between the sheet 10 and the holder 7, thereby separating the both and smoothly correcting the minute unevenness produced on the holder 7. |
