The inner surfaces of open rotationally symmetrical hollow bodies are passed continuously under a measuring head which illuminates the hollow bodies. The light reflected from the inner surfaces of the hollow bodies is captured and evaluated. However, evaluation is not performed until the hollow body to be tested is uniformly illuminated. The evaluation is controlled for this purpose by a light barrier. The height-adjustable measuring head is fitted with a punctiform light source, about which photoelements are arranged in a circular fashion. The photoelements are connected to the evaluation device, which for its part is controlled by the light barrier. <IMAGE>
