ONLINE RECOGNITION SYSTEM FOR HANDWRITTEN CHARACTER

PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of recognition capability for even a character written in wrong stroke order by providing a means for reprting a change in the order of a standard pattern and a means for rearranging the order of strokes of the standard pattern. CONSTITUTION:A character information to be recognized is imputted to a pattern matching device 1. The device 1 informs the pattern to a standard pattern storage device 2 by a signal 100. A standard pattern recomposing device 3 constitutes a standard pattern by changing the stroke order of the standard pattern supplied from the device 2 according to a combination signal 102 for stroke order stored previously in a stroke order combination storage device 4, and transfers it successively to the device 1. The device 1 decides on a minimum value among distances between the input character and several kind of standard patterns whose stroke orders are varied, and then outputs it to a discriminator 5 as a distance between the input character and standard pattern whose stroke order is changed. Said processing is repeated successively with respect to all (n)-stroke standard patterns.
