DESCRIPTIVE ABRIDGMENT The invention relates to sterilization. It deals with a process of sterilization or decontamination of apparatus, characterised in that an aqueous solution containing at least 0.01% of a compound of the formuls in which R represents a C5-C14 n-alkyl radical in the form of the base or a salt thereof, is applied to the apparatus at a temperature in the range of 30 to 120.degree.C at atmospheric pressure. The process is suitable in particular for the sterilization of milk processing circulation equipment.
