PURPOSE:To increase luminance brightness, and to improve efficiency by forming a kerf extending over a P-N junction section from the back of a substrate and making the area of a junction surface emitting light correspond to the area of the luminescence extracting surface of an upper section. CONSTITUTION:The kerf 10 exceeding the position 3 of a P-N junction is formed to the back so as to divide a region approximately corresponding to a light emitting surface 1 positioned to the surface of the light emitting diode having the P-N junction. An electrode 4' having ohmic contact is attached to the region of the back corresponding to the light emitting surface, and an insulator 8 is stuck to the region of the back corresponding to an electrode 4 for fastening the lead wire of the surface divided by the kerf 10. |
