The invention relates to a device for impinging the guide surfaces of bearing inserts (LS) that are guided in the stand windows (SF) of roll stands by means of pressure plates (DP). These pressure plates can be placed on the guide surfaces and can be impinged by a hydraulic piston (K) that is guided in the roll stand supports (ST). The hydraulic piston (K) is associated with pressure sensors and displacement sensors (WM) detecting its displacement. The frictional force between the bearing inserts (LS) and the guide surfaces is eliminated by adjusting defined plays.
