Method and device for the automated identification of semi-finished products

Process for automatic recognition of semifinished products, e.g. strand sections (sic), following a cutting station of an extrusion unit, especially for identification in a subsequent sorting station, involving a digital picture of an optically recognizable separation and strand section specific surface characteristics using a first camera with data bank storage and a second camera for identification and sorting at the sorting site. An independent claim is included for a device for automatic recognition of the strand sections including two cameras as above.
