<p>To achieve energy economies in comparison with the case where a tenter frame is preceded by separate pre-dryer apparatus, a heat-insulated housing 1 is formed, below one half of its length, with pre-dryer compartments 6 through one or more of which the web-form material 12 is fed firstly (as indicated by chain- dotted lines) before being reintroduced into tentering frame compartments 5 by way of entrance 15.
