PURPOSE:To suppress cold spots and hot spots and to heat ingots uniformly in a walking beam type industrial furnace by shifting movable and stationary skids partially in the width direction of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Stationary skids 2 and movable skids 3 are shifted on straight lines up to approximately the intermediate positions of the skids 2, 3 of a preheating zone 4 in the 1st heating zone 5. Further, in the 2nd heating zone 6, the skids are shifted up to the skids 2, 3 positions of the zone 4, and are shifted to approximately to the intermediate positions of the skids 2, 3 of the zone 7. Then since the materials to be heated in the intermediate parts of the skids and the skids and near right above the skids are difficult and easy to shadow when they ride on either of the skids 2, 3 respectively, they form hot spots and cold spots. However, these spot positions are replaced alternately at every heating zone and therefore the cooling of the materials to be heated is averted, and the formation of the hot spots is suppressed, whereby skids marks are reduced considerably. |
