<p>PURPOSE:A layer packed with balls at which yeast for ethanol production is staying is formed in the upright-type cylinder tank and the sugar solution for fermentation is continuously fed from the bottom into the tank under agitation of the packed layer to prevent the clogging of the packed layer with dead yeast and shorten the fermentation hours. CONSTITUTION:The upright-type cylinder tank 1 is provided with the support for packing 2 and balls of 1 or a little larger density and roughened surface, e.g., polyester balls are placed on the support to form a packed layer 3. Then, a thick yeast mother liquor in the tank 5 is sent through pipe 7, pump P1, pipe 8 into the packed layer 3. The sugar solution is decomposed into ethanol and carbon dioxide while it passes through the packed layer 3 and is excluded from the pipe 13.</p> |
