The machine is characterised in that each tongue-shaped clamping device is provided with a bracket 16 for supporting of the axis of turning of jaws 3. On the bracket 16 are hinged two double-arm levers 18, each one co-ordinated with a jaw 3, and the equal arms of each lever 18 are joined together by a tension spring 19, while the other arms of the levers 18 are operationally connected to stops 14, which are designed to abut against the surface of the pipe in their working position. Each jaw 3 is provided with a limiter 21 for limiting the travel of the levers 18 in relation to the particular jaw 3 in the effective direction of the tension spring 19.
