PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermedite of a coronary circulation promoter, etc., in a short time, by reacting 2-nitrothiophenol with cis-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)gycidic acid ester in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula (R is ester residue) can be prepared by the condensation reaction of 2-nitothiophenol with cis-3-(4-methyoxyphenyl)glycidic acid ester in the presence of a catalyst such as boron trifuloride, ferric halide, zinc halide, cobalt halide, etc. The reaction completes usually within 4- 5hr, which is remarkably shorter than the conventional method. The compound of formula is useful e.g. as a synthetic intermediate of diltiazem hydrochloride which is an anti-Ca<2+> coronary circulation promoting agent, etc. |
