PURPOSE:To obtain an image-forming material excellent in photosensitivity, dark decay resistance, etc., by providing a photoconductive layer consisting mainly of an amorphous silicon containing either of H and halogen, and a specified proportion of N atoms on an aluminum alloy having a surface of alumina containing structural water. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive amorphous silicon layer 102 containing H or halogen, and 0.01-20atomic% N is provided on an aluminum alloy substrate 101 having a surface subjected to anodic oxidation and steam treatment or the like and converted into alumina containing structural water by glow discharge using compounds containing Si, H, halogen, and N, such as SiH4, HCl, and NH3. An amorphous photoconductive layer made of Si and Ge may be formed by partially using GeH4 in place of SiH4, thus permitting a toner image superior in resolution to be obtained, and a photoreceptor excellent in light responsivity and the like electrical and optical characteristics, humidity resistance, aging stability, etc., prevented from peeling between the layer 102 and the substrate 101 and having strong adhesion is obtained. |
