PURPOSE:To prevent any crack and separation of a positive mixture which might be caused around the peripheral part of a positive ring, and prevent any curving or the like which might develop in the center of the positive mixture by improving the shape of the cross section of the peripheral part of the horizontal part of the positive ring, which has an L-shaped cross section and is in contact with the peripheral part of the positive mixture. CONSTITUTION:Both a positive mixture 1 which is a mixture of argentous oxide, graphite and the like, and a positive ring 2 with an L-shaped cross section are pressed and fixed inside a positive metal case 3. Next, a separator 4, an electrolyte holding material 5, a negative electrode 6, and a negative case 8 the periphery of which is held with a sealing ring made of nylon or the like are placed, in the order, orver the mixture 1. After that, the battery is sealed by curling the upper end of the positive case 3 inwardly. Here, the end of the horizontal part of the positive ring 2 is made to have a reverse-step-like shape so as to make the mixtue 1 to easily flow during the formation of the positive part, and to make the mixture 1 to be sufficiently supplied to the end part (E') of the positive ring 2. In addition, by decreasing gradually the thickness of the peripheral part of the ring 2, the ratio (H/H') of the thickness of the mixture 1 and the ring 2 is increased, and the density of the mixture 1 is made homogeneous by eliminating extremely inhomogeneous pressure applied to the peripheral part of the ring 2. |
