PURPOSE:To smoothly operate a fresh air shut-off valve, by such constitution that a guide part is provided in the meeting point of an idle side intake passage and exhaust gas recirculation passage to prevent recirculating gas from directly hitting the fresh air shut-off valve. CONSTITUTION:A multi-cylinder engine is provided with an idle side intake passage 3, cut off with fuel at light load operation, and an operating side intake passage 4, always fed with fuel. A fresh air shut-off valve 2, shutting off fresh air flowing in at light load operation, is provided in the idle side intake passage 3. A guide plate 23 is provided in the junction point of the idle side intake passage 3 and an exhaust gas recirculating passage 19 to prevent recirculating gas from directly hitting the fresh air shut-off valve 2. In this way, a material of HC or the like, contained in the recirculating gas, can be prevented from adhering to be secured and accumulated to the fresh air shut-off valve 2. |
