The orthopaedic garment for the shoulder region is made as a flat piece of material (1) which can be wrapped round the upper body region. It has a main panel (3) with three extensions (2,4,5) to form a T shape, and fastening devices attached to the panels. The main panel (3) covers the front of the thorax and the top of one arm including the shoulder, and an extension (2) one side covers the back of the thorax. The extension (4) at the other side covers the back of the shoulder and interlocks with the second extension. The third extension (5) hangs down so that it can be doubled over and attached by strips (11,20) along its edge to strips (10) across the main panel to form a loop to support the arm. At a junction between panels is an opening into which the arm is inserted. The device can be worn either way round to support the left or right arm.
