Portable welding appts. for simulated training of manual welders uses a high frequency electric arc generator and an echogram. The standard welding hand-piece is connected through switches to the high frequency arc generator by means of a model, which ensures the required gap relative to the weld test-piece. It can be used with the hand held electrode clamp for arc welding, the blow torch for gas welding, or the oxygen cutting torch. In the first, the model, representing the electrode is freely mounted in an assembly of motor, gears and friction drive to reproduce the effect of electrode burning, with an articulated connection to the hand piece.
