PURPOSE:To increase mechanical octane value after completion of warming up as well as to promote carburetion of fuel to be taken into the engine by means of rapidly raising cooling water temperatures of water jacket in the cylinder head after starting. CONSTITUTION:When temperatures in the cooling water detected by means of both water temperature sensors 24 and 25 are at first determined value, for example less than 80 deg.C and when the temperature in the cooling water detected by means of the water temperature sensor 24 is at less than the first determined value and the temperature in the cooling water temperature sensor 25 is between the first determined value and the second determined value which is higher than that, for example between the above-mentioned and 85 deg.C, a controller 26 gives a control valve 22 valve closing signals as output, and at the time other than that, it gives the control valve 22 opening signals as output respectively. Besides, when the temperature in the cooling water detected by means of the water temperature sensor 25 is at less than the first determined value, it gives the control valve 15 valve closing signals as output, and at the time other than that, it gives the control valve 15 valve opening signals as output respectively. |
