PURPOSE:To detect the interfacial boundary position between multiple layers of liquid, by immersing a tubular body, which flows a constant flow rate of gas, into the liquid wherein a plurality of liquids having different specific gravities are distributed in layered shape, and detecting the change in blowing pressure of the gas with a lance being lowered. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 is filled up with fused metal 2 and slug 3 so as to form two layers. The lance 4 is held approximately vertically, and the inactive gas is blowed in the lance at the constant flow rate by an air blowing device 5. The lance 4 is immersed in the slug 3 by a lance lifting device 6 and slowly lowered. In this case, the amount of the lance movement is detected by a nozzle movement detecting device 7, and the back pressure of the air blowing is detected by a back pressure detecting device 8. Both results are inputted to a level computing device 9. The interfacial boundary level is computed by the computing device 9 from the amount of the lance movement when the back pressure is suddenly changed. |
