An LCD device is provided to color diffusing light, transmitted through a light diffusing plate in an inclined direction, in a blue color and offset blue shift and red shift each other generated when the diffusing light is transmitted through a VA(Vertical Alignment)-type LCD panel in the inclined direction, thereby displaying natural colors of high quality without the red shift even in a view of an inclined direction as well as a normal direction. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device(1) comprises a light diffusing plate(3), a light source(2), and an LCD panel(30). The light source is disposed on the rear side of the light diffusing plate. The LCD panel is disposed on the front side of the light diffusing plate. The LCD panel is constituted by interposing liquid crystal(11) between a pair of transparent electrodes(12,13) which are spaced from each other. The LCD panel has a liquid crystal cell(20) in which liquid crystal molecules are aligned in a direction perpendicular to the transparent electrodes when a voltage is not applied to the pair of transparent electrodes. The light diffusing plate is constituted by dispersing light diffusing particles into a transparent material. An absolute value of a difference in refraction indexes between the transparent material and the light diffusing particles, and 50% accumulated particle diameter(D50(mum)) satisfy 0.01<=Deltan x D50<=0.25 wherein Deltan is the absolute value.
