Electric iron, especially travel iron, which possesses an ironing plate, an upper part, if appropriate having a handle, and an electrical heating part. The upper part and the heating part are formed by an electric hair dryer or the like, in front of the hot-air nozzle of which is arranged an ironing plate transmitting the heat generated by the hair dryer. The ironing plate, together with its device for connection to the hair dryer, constitutes an attachment to this hair dryer, the said attachment being easily connectable to and releasable from the latter.
