The invention relates to a structural form of a potentiometer, the helical potentiometer. As is illustrated in Fig. 1, the helical potentiometer consists of three stationary slides and a moving, cylindrical element which consists of an insulating material with a resistance coating. Two slides engage in each case on the first and last third of the cylindrical element, which has a helical mould-out region in the centre third. The third contact, which at the same time ensures guidance of the helix, engages on the resistance helix which is produced by milling away the helix crest.
