Electrostatic filter for removing dust from gas - maintains dust conc. constant by regulating HV

The electrostatic filter consumes relatively little power and maintains a minimum purity of outgoing waste gas and smoke from smelting processes. The instantaneous concentration of dust in the clean outgoing gas is measured and the filter's high voltage adjusted so as to keep the concentration roughly constant. The voltage is increased if the dust concentration increases and reduced if the concentration reduces. The filter consists of several filtering stages. The stages are controlled individually so that the filter's performance increases in steps. Sensors measure the flow rate of the waste gas and its temp. as well as its dust concentration. All the sensors control the high voltage.
